For the price offered by AMAZON without the shipping cost &

tax, this is a very good deal ($1,299.99).

a) Both the 1080i input & the non-hd (from my dvd player) pictures look

great.
b) Audio sounds a lot better than the other LCD TVs.
c) Sony is on screen menus are intuitive.
d) Has a wide viewing angle. Without any glossy reflection(like the
samsung 46a650), I can see this one from my kitchen (even on my well lit
living room)
e) Didn't feel the lack of 120Hz (of 46W4100 or the samsung a650 models)
on a football highlight on ESPN HD.
So overall, I am really happy with my purchase.

Remember not all models are made the same. Both brands have

They use the same panels. Sony has been purchasing its LCD panels from
Sharp for the past while now. They used to buy from Samsung, but Samsung
changed its business practice & it didn't work well for Sony to keep
buying from them. So they now use the same panels as used in the Sharp
Aquos line.
However, Sony adds in its own image processors. That is where the
brands/lines differentiate. I think both do an excellent job when you're
comparing equivalent levels of sets. But I would likely give the edge
slightly to Sony for overall image quality I think a lot of the time.
They make a damn fine processor.
But Sony is can be very pricey. So potentially you could buy a high end
Sharp Aquos for the price of a mid to high or just mid Sony. In which
case, that particular Sharp would beat that particular Sony. Not the
entire brand, just in a model to model comparison. So you need to dig
down into the specs & figure that out. Or provide a budget, because 46''
equates to a lot of TVs you could consider.

In terms of quality, they are pretty much the same.

SONY has better picture, but it is best to go to a store and check for

yourself. If you can not see the difference, it is not worth paying extra.
